HI NICK My name is Jack Shrieves of Grimsby , as we in gy think that the nest is fraying at the edges, it is nice to know that,we old sweats can fly to another nest I sailed out of Grimsby on HMS LOCH LEVEN from the end of 43 to when she paid of just after D Day . The four ships in our flotilla were the LOCH MOYDART, ALLIFOSS, LOCH ERRABULE and us the LOCH LEVEN , I was in GRIMSBY hospital over Xmas, and met a fellow ship mate, his name was DAVE MORRIS, and he sailed in the ship LOCH ERRABULE he was 83 years old, he also was a Scotsman, but sadly he passed away in February, so any one up north is wondering where he is, he is with lots of friends So NICK you have three of us GRIMSBY VETERANS IN YOUR GUEST BOOK lets hope it will grow bigger and bigger CHEERS FOR NOW one of the flock JACK |

Great site, Bravo Zulu!!!!!! As a collector of letters & mail from HM Ships I'm always looking for naval history sites such as this. My Father served with the R.N. 1942-45 as a H.O. rating while I served with the R.F.A. before my move across the Pond in 1979. |

Comment: So great to read the stories of the men of the Naval Patrol. My grandfather served at Europa and to my knowledge was killed when the hospital he was in was bombed. His name was Charles Bown. He left Newfoundland with the forestry unit bound for Scotland and once there, he joined the Royal Navy. I was very pleased that this site was recomended to me. |

Comment: Sorry, I didn't enter my history, which was only in big ships like the Wells (4 funnels) Limbourne, Myngs, Glasgow & Glenroy. Glenroy landed troops at Gold Beach, hit a mine, then became part of Mulberry harbour..... |
