A very welcomed letter from the author and veteran Herbert Gordon Male who wrote the book 'Being in all respects Ready for Sea'

Your creation of a 'website' dedicated to RNPS interests me as my purpose in writing 'The Book' was to get into print the kind of life that we lived. We were undoubtedly the 'poor relation' of the RN, in both equipment and in standing, the ships were never designed to carry so much wartime paraphernalia and certainly not to accomodate the extra crew to man it, and so our living standards were of the grimmest.

Jimmy Brown, as you are aware I correspond with on a regular basis, Sam Nutt I know due to his 'Bedfordshire' experience.

If I can help in any way by contributing to your project I shall be delighted and to be able to look at your proposed writings would be a pleasure and I shall look forward to any print out forthcoming. You must forgive my ignorance on all maters connected with such terms as 'website & 'Internet', in fact even my grand children make me feel sadly left behind!

My best wishes in your efforts to 'put us on the map' after all these years it is heartening to know that someone is trying to put the record straight!

With Kind Regards,

Bertie

email sent in by Charles Williams a member of the Merseyside branch of the RNA

I am ex-RN (P/072052 Seaman) 1962 intake,  but have 2 RNPS members in my family....  My Uncle... Marshall Brooks is a 77 years old Manxman and was a Bunting tosser; and my father Clarence Williams LT/KX105624, now 80 years of age was a Stoker.  I have some photographs I can upload to you if you wish..  Tomorrow 28th Feb is another evening at the RNA and the Merseyside branch of the RNPS..  I know all the shipmates there, and if you want to have the OBITS then let me know...  As you are well aware,  most of the remaining shipmates of the RNPS will cross the bar in due course and I would only be too pleased to give you the information as and when it happens with regards to our branch (Merseyside).

In the past 2 years, my wife and I have attended the Fleetwood branch for the annual reunion, and a very nice time is always had by all.  However, it seems that the Lowestoft reunion seems to fall on the same day (1999 & 2000) and some of the shipmates would like to have attended both, but have always had to choose, one or the other. I, personally feel, this is a shame.

This evening, I have printed  all the pages  from your Web site so as I can take them in tomorrow for our shipmates to see that they have not been forgotten.

If you would like a list of all the shipmates in our branch, still alive and kicking? then let me know,  I am sure  they would be only too happy  for me to convey  any  relevant information.

Congratulations on the Site.

All the kindest regards

Charles Williams
